Senate Vote Expected Soon

A Funding Update From General Manager Kelly Brown

Your support of KAMU is invaluable for our work. We need and appreciate each one of you! We’ve recorded 11 heartfelt testimonials with members of our community who trust and believe in KAMU. Hear why public media matters so much to people like John Nichols, Don and Becky Russell, Anne Black, Tom Turbiville, Max Crawford, Leslie Bowlin, Monica Martinez, Nancy Sawtelle, Rob Dixon and Holly Hudson, Carmen Garcia, PBS KIDS kiddos, and more. Their voices inspire us — and we hope they’ll inspire you, too. The outpouring of support and personal stories from these community members and many more reminds us why this work matters more than ever.

This month, the U.S. Senate is expected to vote on a proposed rescission plan that would take back previously approved federal funding, including support for public media. For KAMU, the impact would be devastating: roughly one-third of our funding would be eliminated.

KAMU, along with our colleagues nationwide, are working directly with Senators to explain how critical this funding is — not just for programming, but for the very infrastructure that connects and informs our communities. There is no substitute for this support.

Join us in standing strong for the future of KAMU: contact your Senators and say “Protect My Public Media!”
